  1. Hi
I really like your travel route plugin and I want to insert it into my page.
I am not a professional and use wordpress since short time.
I have already installed and activated your plugin. The Google Maps API Key I have inserted (Settings)
But if I search for a for a location or for a city (Add Location) he finds nothing.
    Can you help me?
    Greetings from Switzerland
    Thomas

  2. Hi Simon,

I was trying to use your wordpress plugin “google maps travel routes” which looks very interesting to me. Unfortunately, I got this error message, while trying to enter an address:

Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /wp-content/plugins/google-maps-travel-route/views/add-location.php on line 81

Warning: file_get_contents(http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?sensor=false&address=paris) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /wp-content/plugins/google-maps-travel-route/views/add-location.php on line 81

I tried on severals blogs, and I made sure that allow_url_fopen and allow_url_include are allowed on the server.

Did you ever hear from this issue ? Do you have any suggestions to solve it ?

    Many thanks !!

  3. Hey there,

seems like your plugin doesn’t work on my website. While adding new cities, ist always brings me that fault:

Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /homepages/46/d140866660/htdocs/wordpress/australien/wp-content/plugins/google-maps-travel-route/views/add-location.php on line 81

Warning: file_get_contents(http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?sensor=false&address=Herrenberg%2C+Germany) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /homepages/46/d140866660/htdocs/wordpress/australien/wp-content/plugins/google-maps-travel-route/views/add-location.php on line 81

    And I haven’t found a way to enable file_get_content.
Is there any other way, maybe by texteditor, to add cities?

    Best regards
    Oliver

  4. Please make sure that “allow_url_fopen = On” is enabled in the php.ini file! And don’t forget to restart Apache if you made any changes…

  5. Hi,

I’m very happy to discover your plugin to create a map for my travel.

But, first it worked perfectly (in September), and now the map don’t appear any more.
I didn’t make any change, just add some news locations.

Do you have an idea of the problem ?

    Thanks !

  6. Hi,

The pluggin has a mind of its own… I’ve entered every location one by one in the order visited and it decides to put some before others in the wrong order, no way to rearrange??? Now my travel map looks like someone knitted through Argentina!!!

    ???

    • Yes, if you would have read the plugin documentation the rearrange function is not yet implemented.

  7. Hi there!
I am really excited to use this plugin! I have edited my travel route in the dashboard, so far with two locations. However, when I tried to use it in my sidebar, as a widget – the actual map is not showing up on my site.

What am I not doing right? How do I get the map to be visible?

  8. Hi there,
Great plugin! Is it possible to have multiple routes, maps?
    Many thanks for you time,
Looking forward to hear news from you,
    Yours,
    Claudiu

  9. is there a way I can make multiple different maps? I would like to make 3 separate maps to insert into one post

  10. Hello,
everything seems to be working fine with the plugin, except that the markers will not appear. I have it set to a right sided widget. Thoughts?

    Thanks

    • Hi Justin
Yes, thats true! This is part of the old version of this plugin, which I haven’t updated yet.

  11. Hi,

I have installed the plugin on WP 3.8.2.
When I search for a location I get a blank page (after I hit the “search location” button). The location is also not visable in the location list.

Is this plugin compatible with WP 3.8.2.?

  12. Hi !
I’m using an other travelmap plugin for my website and I really want to change to yours but I have the same problem as Thomas.
I have already installed and activated your plugin. My Google Maps API Key is inserted and reconized.
But if I search for a for any location, I only have this message : “Nothing found…”
Do I have to activate anything more in the google API?

    Thanks !

PS : I read that we can’t reorganize the differents locations yet. That’s what I like in the plugin I’m actually using, and that’s really usefull. Actually you’ve done a very good job ! :P

    • Hi Robin
This has nothing to do with the Google API key. Please install curl for php:

      falbala:~# apt-get install php5-curl
      Added “extension=php_curl.so” to “/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini”

      Simon

  13. If you can not add a location (error “nothing found…”) please check if curl for php is installed!

How to install curl for php5:
    falbala:~# apt-get install php5-curl
    Added “extension=php_curl.so” to “/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini”
    Restart apache

  14. Hi Simon,

I have installed this plug-in in my site. http://www.sydneyairtours.com. However when I tried to display a page that has the map, I get the map shown (for about 1 or 2 seconds). It then disappears and I get the following error message…..

Google has disabled use of the Maps API for this application. The key provided is not a valid Google API Key or it is not authorised for the Google Maps JavaScript API v3 on this site. If you are the owner of this application, you can lear about obtaining a valid key here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/tutorial#api_key

Are you able to advise what the problem might be?

    Many thanks
    Tony

    • Hi Tony, please check the google maps api documentation and get a valid api key.

      Regards
      Simon

  15. Thanks Simon,

Turns out I did not have the Server API key. When I did that it all worked OK.

Can you advise when your version that will allow multiple map to be displayed on a site may be released?

    Many thanks
    Tony
